District of Columbia Law Summary - Workplace Drug/Alcohol Testing

GENERAL SUMMARY: This is a "REQUIRED" jurisdiction, meaning some employers are required to test certain workers - e.g. "high risk" Dept. of Corrections employees AND there are limitations on who, what, where, when private employers can conduct testing. Otherwise, there are no restrictions on private employers; common law and drug/alcohol standards should apply.

The new amendments to the Americans with Disabilities Act could limit who, how and when testing is conducted.  

OTHER STATE ODDITIES:   There are no other items of note.
